Reborn #1 Review
“Mark Millar and Greg Capullo join forces to create the smash hit sci-fi / fantasy story of the year: REBORN. Where do you go when you die? Not heaven or hell; somewhere else. Somewhere you have to fight to survive. Somewhere the people from the past are waiting for you—the good and the bad.”
For me, normally when it comes to one of these Mark Millar series, I tend to wait until all the issues are out before reading them. That way I can read them all at once; I find that it’s more enjoyable reading with his style of books. With that being said, I couldn’t help myself by diving right into this one—and from now on when it comes to this comic, it’s going to be a buy and read the day it comes out kind of thing. I just like it that much.
There’s a lot of world building going on in this issue—which is fun for me—I always like that kind of stuff. The concept of this series is unique too, and I don’t want to spoil it for anybody who hasn’t heard what it’s about yet, but I’ll give you a hint; it deals with something that everyone has thought about. And I mean everyone.
The main reason this title is going to be a monthly pick up for me is because of the awesome artwork of George Capullo; the way he crafts this world is no small feat. Mark Millar is doing a lot of big idea’s on this one, and Capullo is bringing it all to life beautifully.
By the end of this first issue you’re not quite sure on where this series is going, but I feel like that’s where a lot of the fun is going to be. I can’t wait for the next issue of this series to come out and to see what these two mad men have come up with.
I give this 5 out of 5 whiskey shots
