“DEAD NO MORE”
The Jackal is back and has conquered death. The Amazing Spider-Man is outmatched by his classic enemy’s army. Does the wall-crawler stand a chance? SHOULD he stand in The Jackal’s way if he’s found the key to eternal life?
We have clones again in a Spider-Man title… or do we? Even with the name “Clone Conspiracy” they sure do go out of their way to make sure to let the reader know these might not be clones. This is going to be this year’s Spider-Man event series, but I think the hardest thing for this miniseries is going to be living up to the last Spidey event (spider verse).
There are a lot of plot points coming together that Dan Slott has been working with ever since the end of Superior Spider-Man. The writing for this is pretty solid; I’m looking forward to the explanation of these people not being clones and if they’re not clones, what they actually are. And with the cliffhanger at the end of this issue it definitely has me wanting more.
The art for this title is really well done. Especially the first big panel on the second page with Peter thinking of everybody he’s let down throughout the years; its just beautiful. The way that some of the classic Spider-Man villains in this issue are drawn is absolutely brilliant. I’m definitely looking forward to what he’s going to bring to this miniseries going forward.
All and all this has been a pretty solid first issue. I just hope we get some answers here soon as to what’s going on with these clones/no clones situation. I’m hoping we’ll get to see who was under the Egyptian mask because something tells me it’s not quite who you think it is. But until we get to that point, I guess we only have speculation.
I’m giving this conspiracy 4 out of 5 whiskey shots
