MMPR #8 Review

The world is on lockdown. The Dinozords, now under the Black Dragon’s control, are stationed around the globe invoking Rita’s word as law. With the Rangers left powerless, Rita calls upon Tommy to make the ultimate sacrifice or risk Angel Grove’s survival.

Mighty Morphin Power Ranger #8 Preview

When I first saw that they were doing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series, I wasn’t very interested in it. I mean, I was a fan of the original show when I was a kid and all, but just kind of thought “what’s the point.” But then I saw that Kyle Higgins was going to be the writer for this title, and I’ve been a big fan of his work for a while now. So, I thought I would just check this out for a couple issues to see how it was. What I didn’t expect was to actually enjoy this series as much as I have.

Now, I can’t really remember how the original TV show ended, but as far as I can tell this story doesn’t really take place during any certain part of the show; with the exception being just after the Green Ranger showed up and then became one of the good guys. Also, related to the show, the writing for all these characters has been pretty spot-on to what I’m able to remember from the TV series.

Hendry Prasetya has been doing a great job with the art duties on this series. He can do the action scenes and makes the corny stuff from our youth look super badass. A pretty amazing feat considering this is a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic we’re talking about here.

I’ve really been enjoying this Series so far and I’m looking forward to seeing where it’s goes. This has been such a good creative team for this book; it’ll be pretty hard to imagine anybody else working on the title.

There’s a cool development that happens towards the end of this issue that’s a very interesting plot development. That has me jonesing for the next issue. I’m giving this issue:

Four Out of Five Whiskey Shots.
