Sometimes I get bored and feel the need to come up with different writing challenges for myself. This time I wanted to see what the end result would be if I gave myself a 20 minute hard time limit to write a short story with a minimum of 2000 words. Sounded easy enough in my head.

Of course, these sorts of things are never as easy as they seem. Especially when you go into the story without a topic or idea on what to write about. So as always, I took an idea from way back in my head; this one was probably stored there from some goofy pulp comic like Tales From The Crypt or something that I read when I was a kid.

For me, the challenge isn’t in writing a story out of thin air. No, what I found most difficult with this particular challenge, was ending it. With about five minutes left on the clock I had to scramble to come up with a satisfying ending to a story that I normally would have stretched out to at least ten 8,000-12,000 word chapters. I don’t think it came out all that well (at least compared to what I really had in mind for the story), but it was pretty fun regardless. I highly recommend you guys trying this challenge for yourselves sometime.

Please excuse any typos or grammatical errors. As I do with any of these challenges, the outcome is completely unedited and devoid of any rewrites. I hope you enjoy.
