Amazing Spider-Man #21 Review

CLONE CONSPIRACY TIE-IN! THE RETURN OF CARRION puts the Scarlet Spider in BIG TROUBLE! Where has Kaine been since SPIDER-VERSE and what does he have to do with the Jackal’s plan?!

The Amazing Spider-Man title is continuing to tie into the Clone Conspiracy. The focus of this issue is on the character Kaine and what he’s been going through since his “supposed death” at the end of spider verse; I really started to enjoy Kaine as a character since he got his own solo series a few years back.

It was very interesting to see Kaine’s journey since the last time we’ve seen him. I was also surprised at how much I enjoyed Scarlet Spider and Spider Gwen working as a team—they work pretty well together.

The artwork from Giuseppe Camuncoli for this issue is very solid once again; he really has a feel for the different spider characters—and he draws a mean Scarlet Spider costume to boot.

I like the way they’ve been using the Amazing Spider-Man title to flush out some of the characters that are in the Clone conspiracy mini-series. It’s also very useful in the way that they’re using these tie-ins to show some of the back stories and details so the main story doesn’t get crammed with too much stuff going on at once. As I stated before, I’m really digging seeing Scarlet Spider back in the fold, and I can’t wait to see what they’re going to do with him and the rest of this series.

I’m giving Amazing Spider-Man #21:

4 Out of 5 Whiskey Shots.
