Passion is something that can drive us to be better, or drive us to self-destruction. It’s very easy for one’s passion to cross the line over to obsession. But the thing is, many people can’t relate.

It’s sad to say, but far too many people in this hectic modern world lack one true passion in life. So many live doing the same things day in and day out without ever really finding a reason to live. It’s as if they exist simply to fill their days with meaningless distractions instead of doing something challenging. Or rather, do something they are scared of failing at.

With this flash fiction piece, I wanted to tell the story of a blues legend (I’m sure you can guess who) by describing why he plays in the first place. I wanted to capture the feeling of being lost in something you’re passionate about in a way a person can visualize. I’m not sure if I succeeded, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
