Nightwing #10 Review
“BLUDHAVEN” part one! Following “Night of the Monster Men” and his battle with Raptor, Nightwing heads to Blüdhaven for a fresh start. But that doesn’t last long when he runs into a crew of former Bat-villains!
Welcome to Blüdhaven! I have been waiting for this for a long time now. Nightwing finally arrives back to the Blüd, which I hope will become his permanent base of operations (at least for the near future). One of the main things that I was most disappointed in by the new 52 era was that Nightwing never made it to Blüdhaven. But now that he’s back, I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen.
Getting straight to business now: we get introduced to some new characters in this issue. We also find out that Dick Grayson will be working at a gay community center. So, those’ll be some interesting things to follow up on later.
One thing I’m hoping that’ll happen with Nightwing being back in Blüdhaven is an expansion into his Rogues gallery. With the way Tim Seeley crafted Raptor, I’m curious as to see what other mean bad guys he comes up with, and I also want to see what his take will be on all of these Nightwing villains.
Marcus To has been doing a spectacular job these past couple issues; I would really like to see him have a lengthy run on Nightwing going forward. One of my favorite things that he’s been doing is the design (logo) on Nightwing’s suit—previous artist had it very slim and not taking up a whole lot of room on the chest. With To’s Nightwing design, you get a thicker logo that takes up more room: my one caveat with the design is it’s not the traditional, logo going down Nightwing’s arms—but I’ll take what I can get.
Javi Fernandez rebirth design (on left) vs To’s current design, which has the logo slightly thicker.
This issue is a lot of fun and a really good read. I’m still interested in seeing how the Blüdhaven storyline is going to play out and if Nightwing is going to stay or not. But whatever happens right now, it’s just nice to see him back where he should be.
I’m giving Nightwing #10:
