This week we’d like to welcome back one of our first featured writers, Christen Sweat. Her first submission, Forgotten, was one of our most popular flash fiction features. Now, Christen has shared with us another original flash fiction piece titled, Without Him.

Without Him is a bitingly honest short that takes us into the life of a woman hellbent on self-destruction. It shows how low a person can go just to feel loved, or pain, or anything other than numb. And it’s from this perpetual state of being at rock bottom where a destructive cycle forms.

This cycle of destructive behavior becomes an addiction. And the one lingering question Christen leaves us with is, how do you fill the void left inside when your addiction is another person—and that person is no longer around?
