The Accelerators Vol 1: Time Games Review
An action packed laugh out loud romp through time.
If you’ve listened to I Sell Comics on the SMODCAST Network, there’s a good chance you may have heard about this comic. And I don’t know about you, but for me it always sounded interesting. Unfortunately, none of my local comic shops carried it—which meant I’d have to order it.
With my to read pile being as big as it is already, I just never got around to it. So when I happened to come across some of the people involved with this book at a con, (I had no idea they were going to be there) I figured I had to pick this comic up. Well, not just this one. I bought the first three volumes.
Is time travel something you’re into? If so, this is a comic you have to check out. The real cool thing with the time travel method in this book is that you can only move forward in time; there’s no going back. The Fibonacci Sequence is when you add previous numbers to get the next one, and when you combine that with only being able to go forward in time, it can make for some interesting stuff. This probably sounds like gibberish to you but trust me, it leads to some cool things going down.
The writing for this comic is a ton of fun. It has the right amount of action, adventure, mystery, and comedy. The writer, R.F.I. Porto, also answers some very important questions: like who would win in a fight between a gangster and a knight or a Nazi storm-trooper vs a caveman. All the characters in this series are done really well.
Gavin Smith is a talented artist that does both the pencils and inks for the Accelerators. He does an awesome job of drawing all of the craziness that takes place in this comic and I look forward to seeing what he does as i read more of the series. And rounding out the art duties is Tim Yates, the colorist. Mr.Yates was one of the guys I got to meet at the con and I’m happy to say, he was a pretty cool dude.
I can’t wait to start the second volume of this series. It has definitely piqued my interest for what’s going to happen in the series moving forward.
I give the first volume of accelerators…
