I Am Alive
I no longer feel alive,
as the day fades into night,
and everyone passes me by,
while I pretend everything is alright.
I feel myself slipping away,
not caring when I should,
it has to be this way,
I’d change it if I could.
As down as I feel,
lower than the ground,
I want to know what is real,
and why no one is around.
But in defiance I finally scream,
I too can survive,
though the tears form an endless stream,
I am alive.
When I’ll feel like myself again,
I do not know,
but I’m tired of asking when,
I can be free once more to grow.
