Dead Ahead
Somber tombs
while thunder booms
fill the rooms
with dread.
Dusty floors
and creaky doors
are keeping more
of his fears fed.
Lighting strikes
hitting rusted spikes
scared the likes
of Ed.
Far away
and scared today
he didn’t stay
that’s why he fled
In fright
ran all night
until the moonlight
turned red.
Running long
felt so wrong
he wasn’t strong
enough to get ahead.
So tired
so very tired
Legs on fire
feet bled.
Giving in
to his sin
Ed couldn’t win
so he dropped dead.
