Leanord was afraid of the sun. Since he was a boy his skin was far too sensitive and burned easily. But he always dreamed of one day taking a walk through the sunshine. Now an old man, he can’t help but reflect on how strange his life has been—a man forced to live while others slept. It’s been a lonely life.
Confined to a wheelchair and facing death, Leanord decided he would leave this world facing his greatest enemy. So when the nurses weren’t around, he wheeled himself outside on the patio. The warm breeze hit his face and carried his soul higher than an eagle could fly. He flew toward the sun—brighter and more beautiful than he could’ve ever imagined. Its rays didn’t burn. Instead, they helped him soar higher and higher, guiding his soul with the wind toward a place called paradise.
He was finally free.
