A Promise

By Caleb James K.

As time passes by
And we grow older
Please promise
That you won’t forget me.

And If I die
With your emotions bolder
Just think of this
Of what we once thought we could be.

Because I think of you
Every day
And when I breathe
It’s because of you.

For the things I do
And words I say
Why I breathe
Is because of you.

But we grew apart
No one’s fault
Didn’t shout
We just lost our way.

If I was smart
My feet I’d halt
Before walking out
The door that day.

To the sky
My prayers fly through
I’m nothing but
The thought of what we could be.

But time passes by
And I need from you
That no matter what
You promise to never forget me.
